Hi, I’m Deja Hasness, and I believe that good grant work starts long before the application.
Nearly a decade in grants and nonprofit consulting has taught me that successful grant seeking doesn’t happen in a silo. It intersects with programs, finances, leadership, evaluation, partnerships, and organizational strategy. That’s why my work goes beyond the next deadline or application. I help organizations think strategically about what they’re pursuing, why they’re pursuing it, and whether they’re truly positioned to succeed.
I’m a Grant Professional Certified (GPC) and Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) with experience across healthcare, human services, education, arts and culture, economic mobility, and community development. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Christian University. I work with organizations ranging from approximately $1 million to $30 million in annual operating budgets, bringing a practical understanding of the opportunities and challenges that come with organizations at different stages of growth.
Houston is home, and Houston-area nonprofits are at the heart of my work. I specialize in working with organizations across the Greater Houston region, with Florida’s Palm Beach County as a second base, while also bringing experience with nonprofits and funders in other communities.
I’m also a speaker and trainer who loves making grants feel a little less complicated, and a lot more strategic. Through Grants Within Reach, I bring all of those pieces together to help nonprofits build stronger strategies, pursue better-aligned opportunities, and create the capacity to manage funding well.
